The Sons of Thunder Mustang Tour, a collaborative initiative by Ford Lazarus, MS Promoters, Motul and Ford Mustang enthusiasts, recently concluded an exhilarating journey through two countries and nine cities. This epic 1320km road trip highlighted the powerful synergies created when iconic American muscle cars meet genuine passion for community and children’s welfare.
Beginning at Cars in the Park at Zwartkops and the Ford Lazarus showroom, the route took drivers through to the Drakensberg Sun and then onto the Greytown Country Club before stopping in Richards Bay. The Mustang convoy then continued into Mozambique to enjoy the sights, weather, delicious food and a warm welcome from the residents of Maputo, before finally heading back into South Africa.
Participants made the most of this chance to experience the thrill of the open road while raising funds and spreading goodwill. In addition to engaging with local communities and charitable initiatives in South Africa and Mozambique, the tour also focused on the importance of road safety in Maputo with the support of Midas Mozambique – an authorised Motul retailer in Mozambique – in collaboration with the local traffic authorities.
“We are really proud to have been part of this remarkable event,” said Hugo Jardim, owner of Midas Mozambique. “It was a real honour to host Mustang enthusiasts and introduce them to the wonders of Mozambique while driving home important road safety messages.”
“The Sons of Thunder Mustang Tour exemplifies the spirit of adventure and camaraderie that defines the Motul brand and the Mustang community,” added Mercia Jansen, Motul General Manager for Southern and Eastern Africa.
MS Promoters, the organisers of the event were delighted to share that as well as the charitable donations along the route, a further R20,000 was raised for the Sons of Thunder Rescue Home Fund.
“We were overwhelmed by the turnout and the goodwill shown by everyone involved in the Sons of Thunder Mustang Tour. This incredible journey truly exemplifies the spirit of giving back,” commented Saydi and Tony Barbosa from MS Promoters.
